The sun sets on another day…
It’s Time. Time for another sunset, time for another smile, time to accomplish something. It’s time and everyday that “time” comes from moment to moment. As I watch the sun in the western sky this evening I am once again astounded by how life plays out before us.
Today I was speaking to a gentleman who talked about how he would like to write a book. I used to say things like that all the time. I would have been able to get to it soon and I honestly believed it each and every day. The day became days, the days turned into weeks, the weeks to months, the months to years, and my massive number of hobbies kept me from finishing what I should have done in a far more linear manner. Instead of finishing dozens upon dozens of books I started many and left them in varying stages of completion. There was always one more day.
Now don’t get me wrong, I have some really good starts to books out there. But I did not take the time then I should have to complete a task I wanted to do. I did not take the time to complete the task I should have completed. It is here that we often are in a conundrum. At what point do we set aside the hope of tomorrow and engage the power of today?
It seems like a rather easy question. Why not get done today what we have been putting off for tomorrow? I have found though that many people see tomorrow pretty much as a guarantee. For those of you that do let me say simply I have brushed by my end of it all so many times I take it very seriously now. Today is the day that matters each day. Today is the day you do that special thing you have been putting off. Today is the day you spend time with someone that you have been setting aside. Today is the day that you find time to laugh a little more. Today is the day you ask “did you make a difference to yourself and as many others as you could?”
It is an easy task to pay attention to today and just don’t set it aside.
So as the sun sets on another day here we sit waiting for this day to end. Let’s make sure that at the end of every day we smile and state simply “wow what a fantastic day”. Let’s make sure that today and every today is our best day, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, laugh a lot, and walk like an Egyptian…
