The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was spectacular somewhere, but I got to see clouds today, and rain, and a little bit of snow as the weather tried to decide what it would do today. Still, it was a great day.
Today I got to spend time in a chair while someone attempted to climb inside my mouth with a small semi. Well, not really. I did sit in a chair and in the process received sage advice from a fantastic young person on my oral health. That is always good. I also listened to a slice of a life, and a series of systematic pieces of information that once again allowed me to see the world through another persons eyes.
They say the eyes are the mirror of the soul but our perspectives of the events in front of us are the true window. Without our interpretation there is nothing but data, but we can see the world, and as we do so our perspective builds that world in front of us. As I listened today I was astounded by hardship, and challenge, and a perspective not only on a slice of where we are, but on the world we live in. People were found, and lost, and found again. It was a unique morning.
As I drove home I can only say we all have a choice. We face a choice of our perspectives daily. We can choose how the world affects us, and how we affect the world. We can choose to rise above or to allow the world to take our lives away, one moment at a time. We can choose how we react to situations, and how we overcome those feelings many have inside.
This is hard. We can choose how the world affects us. The world as a whole will constantly challenge our psyche. Many people are like corks in a wave and go to and fro as the wave tosses them, but some have learned that they can decide. I would like everyone to know, you decide how everything affects you. You decide who you are daily. It is a tough task but you need to take a breath and let go of the negatives.
On the other side is how we affect others. Take a moment and research “shadow self” someday. We all have things inside we don’t necessarily like. We all have darkness in spite of our light. We need to realize and own our darkness understanding that being a monster isn’t necessarily always bad. We define our monster by how we affect others. In the process, we can overcome our nature and be true and pure to the world around us, knowing that inside our limits may be quite different that those around us. All you should ask yourself is to be true to who you are. As I said in a new short story coming out in my new book “Another Slice of Fear” “…a monster is not how someone looks but is instead defined by the power of their actions and the trail they leave behind”.
So as the sun sets on another day, I could write on this forever, but I will stop here for now and simply say, accept you are who you are, and be the best version of yourself to others. Once more, be the best version of yourself to others, no matter what. Remember, if you burn a bridge it may never be rebuilt. Instead only burn those bridges you cannot believe in, and make your day the best day ever, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, feel your love inside, and be you…
