The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was a tease and sent out little shards of light only to be swallowed by the storm and lightning around. Still, I knew that high above, sunset was spectacular.
Yesterday was a great deal of fun on Independent Bookstore day.
First stop: Manistee to the visit the Happy Owl Bookshop. Picked up another letter of the alphabet from Sue Grafton and talked to the clerk. She had no idea it was Indy Bookstore day but we had a few good laughs.
Bonus stop: The NU 2 U Resale Shop where I got an Official Paved Road and Commercial Survey of the United States from around 1933. The fun part was the airway map. Things have changed a little.
Second stop: The Windowsill Bookstore in Ludington. This was an awesome store full of people and the two owners were a lot of fun. No, they had no idea it was Indy Bookstore Day but I had fun walking around and got a nice book while I was there!
Third Stop: The incredibly awesome Book Nook and Java Shop of Montague. There I got to be a pest and interrupt the Dynamic Donald Levin as he met with a book club and spun his wares, wiles, and wisdom. I am looking forward to reading his new book Savage City and getting lost in his perfect prose.
Lots of fun people along the way and somehow ran out of 29000 sunset cards along the way. Who knew. I had a wonderful discussion with a several fantastic people at The Book Nook and enjoyed every moment.
What did you do?
So as the sun sets on another day, enjoy every day you can like there is no tomorrow. Make the world a better place with your presence, and spend some time at Indy bookstores. You can make a day better if you want to do so. Make every day your best, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and carry on…
