The sun sets on another day…
I watched the sun pass overhead and then fall in the western sky. It took time, but in my mind it was an instant, an instant of fire and fury, and then a lightshow of curious colors.
I got a unique gift today that made me think about my grandfather. When I was young, well under 10, my grandfather taught me how to use some strange devices. They included an abacus and a slide rule. If you talk to people about them today it will get a few strange looks, but at the time a slide rule was necessary to do most advanced mathematics. Today they are artifacts of a lost past that most don’t understand, and as I sit smiling thinking of the past.
I have talked before about artifacts and how we can more easily remember important ideas, and unimportant ones too. It is often those little things that make our memory jump into overdrive, and as often those things that we cherish as time passes forward. Today I added another to my shelf, and in that, my memory is alive and well.
So as the sun sets on another day, remember the things and people that are important to you, and be that person that sees the length and breadth of the world each day, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and it all adds up…
