The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was weird. The skies ripped open and flowed with angry might, then shifted to sun for only an instant, then returned to heavy rain. It was impressive.
I was with a writing group today and a picture was presented to us all. The picture was a nondescript floor a patterned wall and a series of doors. One was yellow. There was no necessary rhyme or reason to the whole thing, nor was there a guide or even an explanation of the picture. It was up to us to come up with an explanation. It was up to us to determine how to proceed. Here is what I came up with.
There is a symmetry in every choice we make. Close your eyes and imagine. Before you are a series of doors with no indications of anything besides the choice. Are they the same? Are they different? Does the easy path stand before you? What will you choose. The path seems clear, but there is nothing but shadows beyond your gaze.
This is how life is each and every day, you will not know where you are going, nor will the path change except for the doors you choose. You cannot see beyond, so just keep moving and make the path a path to being you, and in that, you can never go wrong. Now open your eyes and change the world.
So as the sun sets on another day, life is full of symmetry and we have choices every day to make. Don’t make a choice for the sake of symmetry. Instead make your choice to enrich your life and make it better, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and pick a door…
