The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was a series of cloudy moments with thunder on the horizon. I smiled as the clouds rolled in and enjoyed all I could to get ready for the night.
As I wrote tonight’s post I changed in the middle. I was focusing on truth and somewhere along the way ended up in time. This led me to delete almost everything I wrote and start over. No I won’t be talking about the truth that people know from their perspectives and how that truth often doesn’t align with the truth. Instead, I want to bring up something that has been bugging me lately.
There is an old movie called The Time Machine. It’s not the new one but instead one from the 1960s. At the end of the movie the hero goes back to the future but in the process, he took three books with him. The onlookers didn’t know which books were taken and it became a question for anyone watching the movie, which three books would you take. Moreover, which three books would help create a new world when nothing else was left.
It’s a series of funny thoughts when you think about it. There are obviously many people who would recommend the Bible, the Koran, the Torah, or some other guide establishing religion. There are also people who would suggest practical engineering books or survivalist books that would guide the creation of simple machines to complex solutions. Of course, there are other people who would throw something out like Harry Potter, or The Hunger Games, and not think about long term ramifications for a nearly devoid future. I’m sure it could also be a dictionary. The thoughts are unlimited, and I hope that you’re sitting thinking for just a moment how you would create a new society and how you would give people the foundations to survive.
I’m not sure I have a good answer. I have strong opinions. What I am sure of is that most people would have very different ideas about what would make a new world. If you look at our society right now, how would you restructure to eliminate or quell the strife that we currently face? What are we missing? People discount certain approaches to the world but they don’t offer solutions. Why can’t we have a set of rules that work that just makes sense? Why are there so many laws by governments that don’t make sense well only a few rules could guide the morality of us all? I know, this is a series of questions that are getting out of control quickly. I guess what I’m trying to say is if you look at today, are you a good person? Are you making decisions to be happy? Are you defining yourself as the best person that you can be and in the process helping others be the best they can be If it possible?
Lots of questions, not a lot of answers. Think about it and if you get bored send me a note and let me know your thoughts. After all, I find that I learn every single day.
So as the sun sets on another day, I have three books in mind but I’m not telling. Trust me, one of them is not “Who Moved my Cheese” And believe it or not I’m not taking any of my books with me, they’re in my head already. Perhaps there is a perfect answer out there and that answer could help us all in 800,000 years or tomorrow. I hope you find good answers in your mind, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and keep living…
