The sunsets on another day….
I was looking at some statistics about our speed and what we are living on. Did you know:
- You may not realize it, but you are currently going about 66,000 miles per hour as we move around the sun.
- Our solar system is moving about 500,000 miles per hour around the milky way
- our galaxy is moving far faster at over 2 million miles per hour
- To top if off, we are going about 1000 miles per hour on the skin of this giant blue top,
The funny thing is we are going really really fast and we are not falling off, nor getting dizzy on the ride. When you think about going to grandmas you should consider that we are really trucking right now, and it is not a big deal to drive there for a little bit.
In life we don’t always get things in perspective and like this decidedly dizzy and relatively useless piece of information above, we overlook things that are pretty awe inspiring. Consider for a moment the number of things that happen when you touch something and your skin and 4 types of nerves may be used to build a picture in your mind of what you touched, how it feels, and compare it against a virtual library of previous experiences to determine what you touched. We don’t give this much of a thought, but without it, holding a hand would be nowhere near as fun.
So as the sun sets on another day, consider a bigger picture when you walk through the world, and in the process, see everything in a more positive way, as the miracle it is, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and smile a lot, just for fun…
