Today’s post from a guest. Enjoy!
The sun sets..
Every moment of every day is important. Every decision you make from the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep has an impact. The clothes you wear, the music you listen to, the route you take to work, the time you go to bed. All of it equally effecting not only your own life but the lives of people around you. It has always been so interesting to me to hear people say that they don’t think their life really matters in the grand scheme of things.
I personally have never understood this mentality. Why don’t I understand? It’s simple really. Everyone matters. If I sit here and tell you that the color shirt you wear one day has an impact on another person, you’ll read this and think I’m crazy, but if I sit here and explain to you that the hunter green shirt you’ve chosen to wear today reminds me of my first job and everything I learned there and all of the people I met there which brings a smile to my face as I reminisce about all of the happy memories associated with that one simple color, you may now understand how that small choice you made changed a moment in time for me.
I think people are so caught up in things being obvious these days. In order to feel like they matter, they must be told. However, that one stranger that you decided to smile at today may now be having a better day because of you but you’ll never know that. I’d never tell you that your shirt reminded me of a different time in my life but it will still bring the memories flooding back.
Sometimes in life, you need to recognize just how much of an impact you are actually making without needing to hear it from someone else. If you are always waiting to be told how important you are and how special it is for you to be alive, if you always need that affirmation from others, you will never find it. You simply need to have faith in yourself. Why is it so difficult for people to find solace in themselves.
As the sun sets, think about everything that happened, every decision you made, every choice and recognize that you are here for a reason. And always remember that tomorrow is a fresh start and every day is a great day to be alive.
