The sun sets on another day…
Today I listened a lot. The sun rose and the sun set, and I listened. I listened about good things, about bad things, about perceived good, and perceived bad. I opened my mount occasionally, but I listened more than anything.
As I listened today there was a discussion about choices and “the ways to midnight” and I considered as I listened all the choices we make each day that take us through our days. Of course, I would love to change it all and call it 1000 ways to sunset, but midnight works as well. Consider that as we progress in our day we make choices to be happy and sad, and to be a positive or negative force in the universe. (Yes Luke, we use the force). As I sat listening I figured we have an opportunity every few minutes we are awake, or even every minute we are away, so the 1000 ways fits. (Well, some less if you really like your sleep). So, “How many licks does it take to get to the tootsie role center of a toosie poop?” or better yet, can we just enjoy our sucker and have fun?
I really think it is time in our life to stop looking a day as a unit of measurement, a sunset, a week, or a year, and consider that maybe we want to make it count by the moments.
Last night I was watching a show about first dates for a few minutes and on the show were two older people, well, older than me at least this week. On the show they both had goals, but those goals were about experience, about passion, about life. Isn’t it time we aligned with those instead of aligning with stuff, more stuff, and stuff stuff. Maybe it is time to live life each day.
In that vein, I did so and this week am starting to ride bike more, and guess what, the dog will heal to a riding bike. Wooha, life is good, let’s have some fun.
So as the sun sets on another day, let’s start thinking of moments as goals and enjoying those moments. If there are truly a thousand ways to midnight, count yours, don’t believe me. Once you have a number, instead of watching them slip though our fingers let’s have fun each and every day, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, enjoy candy, and love your moments….
