The sun sets on another day…
In a tide pool the actions of a small object are felt by the entire tide pool, unless it is very big. If you throw a rock in the center, you get rippled everywhere and much of it is affected. If you change one thing, it seems to be major. If you throw the same rock into the ocean, it will go unnoticed and in a second after you throw the effects will be no more.
I was talking to someone today about how we impact the world, and how the world impacts us. As they relayed their point of view I remembered there were multiple ways to take just about everything in life. I thought of a tide pool and how if we consider what is happening right now as the only part of our life, that smaller things can be devastating. In these cases people think their world is coming to an end when keys are misplaced, money is lost, or a small argument happens. In the scope of the day this is a massive thing, and can make some people sad, upset, or worse.
By the same token, if we consider our lives, and how the keys being lost one day out of 2,000, consider how money comes and goes, and arguments are nothing compared to the good times, the world just isn’t that bad. In fact, if we take a moment and think about how meaningless many of our small problems are just not that big of a deal. Like thrown a rock in the ocean, the bad just isn’t that bad compared to the good in every day.
We have to remember, as long as we live and breath the good stuff in our lives is great, and the bad stuff really just doesn’t matter that much. Don’t get me wrong, there are devastations. Disease, bad people in our lives that suck the life out of us daily, hard times, and more can really beat you down, but if you look at your life as a whole, we are breathing, and making it somehow each and every day. (I think I am breathing anyway)
So as the sun sets on another day, let’s consider each day as part of something bigger, let’s try not to let the little things get us down, because in the ocean, the pebble doesn’t matter, everything is good. As we enjoy our days, let’s find some high roads, and make them higher, and let the low roads fall away. Let’s make every day the most awesome day it can be, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, smile in the twilight, and love every moment…
