The sun sets on another day…
As the sun went down this evening, no one in this area really knew. Instead of the sunset there was a transition from light to dark, the only passing telltale was a little bit of pink in the sky from some long lost echo of the twilight.
Last night I talked to a variety of people from many different walks of life. I was a huckster for a while, not only promoting my books, but the books of other authors at a local bookstore and bar. (An interesting combination) As I talked I learned a lot about the people there, the writer who wanted to publish, but had not set himself far enough on the path. The visitors who just wanted something to do for the evening, the ladies who came every week and were off to have more fun after, the younger people who were just enjoying the music.
In the end, what I found was that some people are out living, and some live in a bottle. There of course were people there who were strongly engaged with life, but a few I talked to, were there because it was what they did, and there was no positive nor negative to it.
I was always fascinated with the idea of a ship in a bottle. I did not know until much later that the giant ship was deployed small, they opened with strings or movements one inside. My imagination thought that the ship was buitl piece by piece as a until, and in the end, the builder was amazing because he could work at such odd angles. Instead it was a trick, but still a skill.
So I think those that live in a bottle now are the same. There is a lot of skill to living in a bottle, but sometimes it is just a trick, and often it does not mean as much as you think, it is just the way things are in life. Perhaps some can eb out of the bottle and live, but some just enjoy being in the bottle, and enjoy the moments. I like to think that life is best when lived, but perhaps there is something to be said for being safe.
Nope, not going along with it, but I try!
So as the sun sets on another day, break out of the bottle and enjoy some fun, see what life has to offer and find a way to see even more. After all, if we only have 29000 sunsets, what are you waiting for? Find a way, and love life as much as you can, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, smile brightly, and love to the moon and back…
