The sun sets on another day…
I sat watching the sunset nearly alone in a crowd of people, and the sun set into the clouds. Many left, but a few lingered, and as I talked to a small family a miracle appeared, a surprise second sunset as the clouds parted if only for a moment.
It is pretty funny how so many people in life give up right before they win. Patience becomes impatience and impatience, well, it ends in disappointment. People go on and do things they don’t really want to do and miss the things they did want because they did not trust it would come.
As I watched tonight I was unsure for a moment, then I saw the familiar glimmer that signals a thin set of clouds on the horizon, and I talked to a family from Eaton Rapids. They had wanted to see a great sunset, and it was good, but they had missed the horizon view so many people love. There were only 8 minutes left, and I was pretty sure it could thin, so we talked, and then it opened up. A crisp sunset that was beautiful, and a few patient people to share it with.
If only we took a moment and waited a little longer. We could find that perfect job, a perfect ice cream sundae, a perfect beach day, and even a perfect love. Perhaps all we need to do is take a moment and have a little patience, and enjoy the moment. Maybe we all need to stop rushing from item to item and instead waltz through the moments, loving them all the way. It is worth a try.
So as the sun sets on another day, enjoy the hidden sunsets, the surprise sunsets, and the moments in your life you did not expect. Be happy with everything you are, and be excited by life every moment you can, no matter what.
