The sun sets on another day…
I watched today as the sun began to set,and the colors were vibrant for a moment, then gone. As I stood I was aware of the silence, and all the sounds within.
I contemplated words for a while this evening. The simple words people often use can be the most powerful. Simple words in writing, spoken, or otherwise. (Not sure what otherwise there is but it is there just in case).
As a basis for communicating between people there is a receiver and a transmitter. It is the job of the transmitter to send words to people. It is the job of the receiver to translate those words into ideas from the transmitters words. This is where it gets tricky. If the transmitter isn’t careful, words can be distorted, and if the receiver has different experience, they may translate another way, and the idea doesn’t go through as planned. Umm, it goes without saying, language is important, and depth of experience, and a host of other things. In the end, there are a lot of places communication succeeds. There are also a lot of places where it fails. It is up to you to make it succeed as much as possible, just by using words.
Sounds easy?
Not really, no.
I can think of no more special honor to anyone than to understand words. I can think of no greater elation than communicating well with people, and can think of no greater detriment than words misunderstood, or worse, words used in anger. A simple word or concept can change a world, change a life. So what then? Give up? Be the antagonists in the sound of silence? Perhaps. Maybe darkness our old friend can give us a clue, or perhaps the sounds of the sunset this evening may be a key to the door. Perhaps sometimes there is more in the silence than heard. Perhaps sometimes the choices are easier than you think. I leave that to you as each of you must decide how you will communicate, and how that communication will be perceived.
So as the sun sets on another day, enjoy your moments and communicate them well. Live, laugh and love all you can, and communicate it well. Tomorrow may be another day, but today you set the foundations for your future. Make sure it is a good one, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and enjoy it…
