The sun sets on another day…
I sit here in the pouring rain watching the skies open drop water everywhere. The falling rain tinkle’s against my car window and I am happy as I’ve honestly missed the rain. The sky is dull and grey but it brings with it the promise of color everywhere. The rhythmic sway of the windshield wipers play in my mind and the music they bring again makes me smile.
It’s an easy question. Why do some people shy away from things that may not seem good but will eventually fade away and bring a positive with their leaving? Why do some people avoid fantastic opportunities laid before them because they think it might not be a good thing and cannot see beyond the surface?
I wish there was an easy answer to this. When we are young we often sing the “Rain Rain Go Away” song not realizing that there are others that are praying for that rain or more not realizing that the rain can sometimes be the key to making the world a little bit better. Some walk away from the caterpillar not seeing the butterfly just under the surface. There is a book called Hope for the Flowers that goes in depth with what I am saying. I have given this book to only a few very special people in the world, and the reason I did was to open their minds to let them see a bigger world than what was at the surface. In the book two caterpillars find there is a different side of life and in doing so set themselves free of what seems like an inane quest. This book is good for children as well as adults and can open your mind if you only let it.
So, the rain keeps falling. My only concern right now is that if it rains for a long while I might have a foot long zucchini in the garden that I will have to eat. Or a cucumber that takes over the world. Perhaps it will finally be time for an attack of the killer tomatoes.
So as the sun sets on another day as the rain falls it is a great day because the Rain Is a Good Thing. How about we focus on the good things in life and remember but sometimes the good things are hidden behind a little bad or a little inconvenient. Take all the positives you can get out of life and enjoy each and every one all the time no matter what.
Sleep sweet, be happy, and enjoy everything you get…
