The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was not as evident where I was, but the clouds that I saw were lit with pink and red, then they parted slowly and there was the moon. It was a stunning sight, and I am happy to have seen it, of course the pictures did it no justice, so I set them aside. Was it the best sunset ever? No, but it was high on the list.
In thinking back to my childhood to now I find the idea of “best” sometimes is elusive. As we reach the best day ever, we don’t necessarily set a day aside to be the best ever, instead we simply raise our bars a little. At least that is what it has been for me. My first kiss was the best ever, but over the years my idea of such has changed and the first kiss I had was nowhere near the best. My first car was the best ever, and though it is still in the top of the list, I have found more and more fun cars to drive, and enjoyed them all. My best walk on the beach has changed a dozen dozen times, and each has a unique point, and a fun story in the back of my mind. There are many bests, but as we grow, they merely become a new level to overcome.
So how is it for you? Have you reached a pinnacle? Have you nowhere left to go? Do you see each day as a new adventure or something else?
I suggest you look at each day as a new mountain to climb, a new adventure to experience, a new moment to love.
So as the sun sets on another day, well, it is a great day because you are in it! Be that great person that rises above, and in the process, make today a step above the heights of yesterday, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, aim high, and reach even higher…
