The sun sets on another day…
The sunset today was lost in the clouds as rain tinkled down upon my windshield. Still, the day was so beautiful I could do nothing but be thankful.
I was standing talking to dozens of people today when my brain started a secondary thread looking at the myriad of poets I encountered today.
I have been writing poems for just about as long as I can remember. They helped me get my thoughts out when I was young, and as I progressed, they opened my mind a little more. in high school I loved Latin, and learned more about rhythm, and learned more about language. My thoughts about high school gave me more than enough material, and I found myself writing about the “what ifs” in my life and a person I felt deeply about.
Spring forward to college and it just kept going. Still writing I kept realizing that feelings made words more needed, and the end result was more intense. The roller coaster that was college made me appreciate the outlet I had developed. then real life came, and as I progressed, it pounded me mercilessly, but I took it and ran, making every day a potential positive, literally making lemonade from lemons.
Today I wondered, had all these poets found their poetic voice in a similar way, or is that journey unique for everyone. A short time later I talked to one of them, and realized it truly was a unique ride, and I was thankful for mine, but appreciative that there was a different perspective, a different point of view.
So as the sun sets on another day, we all find our way in a way made for us. We make it from our choices, our experience, and in the process become who we are today. I hope you have an outlet like writing, I hope you enjoy poetry and don’t let it fade, and I hope you know that every day is yours if you take it, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and wow…
