My Three Sons…

My Three Sons…

The sun sets on another day…

I was driving today, no surprise, and I passed the truck that was from “My Three Sons Heating and Air Conditioning”. As I passed the truck I suddenly started whistling the theme song from “My Three Sons” that I hadn’t seen or heard in a long long long time. I realized very quickly that my exposure to this once popular show left a programmed response in my mind.

Now I have to say I stopped whistling almost immediately because I realized what was going on and my conscious mind took over for my subconscious. I giggled a little and then laughed a lot because I could out-think this response but the response was still there.

How many things in our day-to-day life have we programmed ourselves to do? If we are self-deprecating is it because something is wrong or because someone has set us up to be that way? If we see the good or the bad in things is it because they are good or bad or because our perception has been affected by our lives?

The answers may be difficult. There is a lot of who we are in Who We Are but it is built upon those outside influences. Take me for example (No jokes) because I know me better than anyone else. I was always presented positive possibilities by my grandparents and chose to latch on to that positive attitude and positive reinforcer. At the same time my other external influences we’re less than positive. In several instances when I was younger I was put into situations that no child should face. I fought always to find the silver lining. It was not someone else’s choice but my choice to see the positive in the situations I faced. I had very little guidance at home so I made the choices about who I wanted to be.

Who are you? Have you decided yet? As you read this are you considering all of the positives in your life or all the negatives? As you do so consider taking a positive path not because it’s always the right thing to do but instead because it will allow you to see both sides more easily. As for everything else look to the world and remember you make that decision.

So as the sun sets on another day, We Are Who We Are. You are who you are. Not because of your parents, your childhood, your adulthood, your college experience, or any other experience. You are who you are because you chose it. You choose the path you want to take. You choose whether to be a positive example that raises people up or a negative example to bring them down. Let’s take the higher road and make the world a better place together, no matter what. I think it will be worth it.

Sleep sweet, love life, make good choices…
