The sun sets on another day…
For weeks now a friend and I have traveled far and wide looking for great pictures. Owls, hawks, eagles and more were in our plans, but we had a few days where we saw nothing, and several that were trying and trying. Of course we enjoyed our time, but it was frustrating to have minimal pictures out of maximum effort.
Today, as I loaded camera in car and readied myself for fun and excitement, or a trip down lack of picture lane I walked out of the house and heard the scream. It was not a scream of a crow or other bird, but of a raptor, and it was close. I have many birds on my property. Eagles, hawks, owls, and a lot more frequent the area. As I walked out I was sure I saw an eagle, close above, it circled and cried out over and over. I pulled out my camera and took pictures, knowing there would be little time to plan and just snapped away. Tonight as I reviewed it was not one of the eagles, but still a big raptor, and I smiled at the pictures. It was a nice start to the day. The bird, on the other hand, enjoyed flying and perhaps was just yelling its name as it soars in an ever higher spiral in the sky until I could see it no more. Must be nice.
“Great plans make for great deeds?” Sounds like a good thought. “Fail to plan, plan to fail”? Heard it over and over, it works most of the time. Today was a clear statement of “find your way, and make it good today”.
I like that, it works, it is easy, it moves us forward. It states simply that the way is your way, and may not be everyone’s way, and in the end, you need to look at your way before you consider a way. Maybe life was meant to be lived and not planned. Maybe your planning simply falls on its face, but living finds a way. Something to think about.
So as the sun sets on another day, where planning failed, sheer blind luck worked. Where looking failed, being ready made for a success. Be ready when life hands you an opportunity, and make each day the best day ever, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, scream your name, and love the sound of it…
