The sun sets on another day…
My office is next to a walkout and as I am sitting at my desk windows are around me. If I look out the window the ground is in front of me and woods and right now a big brush pile. So this morning as I worked the window went dark and I looked out to see the eagle that lives in the area picking up a squirrel right in front of me and taking off. The wingspan completely covered the double window as it took off, and it went side to side through the trees I am betting barely missing branches as it went. Lucky eagle, not so lucky squirrel, or was he?
Funny how that happens.
Sometimes as the day progresses you just feel like the world is taking you away, sometimes you feel like the squirrel, sometimes you feel like the eagle, but always the world goes on. I am reminded of a picture I saw when I was younger of a frog in the pelican’s mouth but strangling the penguin saying “Never Give Up”. If there was any words I could give anyone, it would be just that, never give up. I am happy the eagle got to eat today, but I am also laughing thinking of the squirrel getting free at the last second and laughing all the way.
So as the sun sets on another day, my, eagles are pretty. Nature is brutal, but in the end of this convoluted train of thought we can fight each day to not give up. We can persevere, and we can overcome almost anything if we try. Just like that, a new day appears and guess what, we are still here. Keep being here, keep leading, and don’t give up, no matter what.
