The sun sets on another day…
Sunset slipped away as a car kept us from getting to water’s edge. Still, we took a moment and snapped a picture that will hold the memory forever. Sometimes it’s not just about the sunset, it’s about the minutes after sunset and all the colors that follow.
This evening was a concert that brought back a lot of memories. The Magic Bus it’s a group of talented musicians that play 60s and 70s music with intense passion and ability. As I listened to the songs spray out across the crowd, I was reminded of my childhood and teenage years and all of the fantastic memories that I carried with me.
It is true that sometimes there are memories that are not so fantastic, I often remember those as well but in this particular case I wanted to focus on those moments that melded my days into the positive path I have taken. We have a choice every day on what path we should be traveling, and it is not the events that shape us but instead our interpretation of those events. Example of this that is very simplistic is the interpretation of music lyrics. If 10 people listen to the same song, do you think they all feel the same emotions? Take your favorite song and let’s turn it into an idea. Instead of listening to the words for meaning let your mind flow for the emotions of the moment. Now look up the song. Do you match with everybody in the world or was there another meaning? Does it tie to the song, or does it tie to a memory you once had by listening to the song?
There is a lot to consider with just this little statement and I will let you play with that for a while. Perhaps if we take the time we can see past the emotions and filter out the good and the bad. Maybe if we play close attention, we can see the good in everything, even if it’s bad. Maybe.
So as the sun sets on another day, I hope you can take a moment and persuade yourself not to be blue. I hope you can take a moment and see the world with wider eyes. Mostly I hope that your day is fantastic today and every day, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and crystal blue…
