The sun sets on another day…
I raced the storm as sunset closed in. Small hints of color speckled the horizon and were enveloped by darkness that swallowed all the light. Occasional flashes were across my windshield as I saw lightning in the distance. I pushed hard and got home right before everything broke loose.
I had an interesting experience today. I went to see a band play at the Blessing of the Jeeps in Messick Michigan. I had not been to a Jeep blessing before and was not sure what to expect. I have a friend that goes to meets all the time and we never really talked about much except that it was very challenging. It was all that and a lot more.
I went to listen to the music, a friend was playing in the band, but I ended up watching a lot and seeing a community that interacted very well. Of course I had interacted with cheap groups before, but I had never been up close and personal into what they actually did. There were many groups that did fantastic events from helping small businesses to helping children with toys. It’s hard to believe the heart that is in many of these people.
As I paid attention though, this small city was full of people that we’re excited to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Many of them were incredibly engaged, and many of the volunteers were more than just volunteers, they were friends to everyone who interacted with them.
A small town in the middle of nowhere, with more passion then many towns much much larger. I will be impressed and we’ll come again just to interact with people that have a cause.
The challenges were tense, the music was great, and the people were even better.
So as the sun sets on another day, I’m impressed. There are a lot of groups that impress me. There are a lot that don’t. In the end I hope they all find their way and make a difference for their members and everyone else, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and keep living…
