The sun sets on another day…
It was a beautiful sunset, at the end of a beautiful day, at the end of a beautiful week, and so it goes. Was it perfect? No, not really. It did have the beauty in the sky that I needed to end this day.
Today I got to hang around Barnes and Noble, which is always fun. Each year the Barnes and noble in my city hosts a book signing with local authors. It is usually interesting how it works out, sometimes I do very well, sometimes I don’t. In the end I always leave feeling good about the event and all of the people I’ve talked to.
This time the people were fantastic and although some people didn’t do very well and some people did very well, the people made it a success. I talked to a couple about publishing a book for a long period of time and enjoyed their insights into the world. I talked to someone who made a statement just by being alive and I enjoyed their viewpoints of the world. Another couple made me smile every moment and as I did so I enjoyed their musings, and I will read their book in the next day or so. I debated movies with the gentleman, and we agreed on much, and in the end the day only got better.
There were new faces, there were old faces, and there were a lot of faces. I smiled as I interacted with people and as usual, I was energized to the Nth degree.
What is it about people that can brighten your day? Do people brighten your day? Do you see past what people say into who they are and, in the process, understand that they’re going through a little more than what they’re portraying? All good questions, and today I felt good about each one.
So as the sun sets on another day, I drove away today hopeful that next year we would do the same thing and, in the process, make the world a little more fantastic. I also had a very good Jersey Mikes sub, that made me smile too. I hope you had a fantastic day as well, and help make the world yours, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and chicken bacon ranch sandwiches are good…
