Why miss another?

Expired…

The sun sets on another day…

The beauty of sunset was all around. I was surprised at how clear the sky was as I drove home and found my way to the end of another day. The mountains covered up a little bit of color but the bulk was there and I enjoyed every moment.

I found my ketchup was expired, it just didn’t look right. I hadn’t used the ketchup in a while and I sat there staring at it wondering what else had expired. I wandered through my refrigerator and my cabinet with the minimal amount of food that I have right now and found that there was very little that I had to worry about. The bread was close to expiring but it would be gone tonight. Everything else was nearly new. So why had the ketchup expired?

It’s likely that the ketchup was hiding at the grocery that nobody had really paid attention to that bottle. Either that, or I brought the ketchup from another house. I thought about it for a moment and wondered how many things expire that don’t have expiration dates on them. Here is a list of things that I wish didn’t expire, ever.

  • The feeling you get when you first meet somebody that you really resonate with
  • The need to do a good deed
  • the feeling of waking up and being appreciative for what you have
  • innocence, in all its forms
  • the limitless power of unconditional love
  • friendship
  • the realization that everything evolves, including science
  • the taste of something you really love

I think that’s just to start, but it would be cool if you added to it. What do you think should never expire? What do you think should be forever?

So as the sun sets on another day, I have new ketchup. It only took a moment to go get it from the grocery nearly across the street. Unfortunately, I wasn’t really hungry when I brought it back so I didn’t eat or need my ketchup but I put it in the refrigerator anyway. It’s OK for ketchup to expire, I just wish the good things in life would hold on a little bit longer. Find the things that can last forever and help them last, and make sure people know that you love them, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and keep living…
