The sun sets on another day…
Sunset shared its beauty and I was inspired by the fractal fun that sprayed everywhere. The cloudy sky and intensity gave way to complex items that made me smile and consider the wonder of the world.
I have always liked math. Part of the reason of that is because my grandfather was a professor of mathematics at a college. A lot of his life revolved around math and he gave me many problems and encouraged me as I grew up to be mathematically inclined. I think that’s awesome. And it has a lot of awesome memories attached.
I remember when I was probably six or seven my grandfather started playing the “ate it” game with me. He would name something crazy like a big fat juicy tomato worm and then state that he oned it, and I would say that I twoed it, and here we go forward until we got to the number 8 and it would always be me who 8 it.
My grandpa got a big laugh out of that always and no matter how many of us were playing he worked out instantly the way that I would have to eat it. It didn’t take long for me to learn the pattern and forced my little sister to eat it all the time, but it was still interesting during this time where I was just a dumb kid and my grandfather was playing with words.
Looking back it was more awesome than that because not only was he teaching me math he was engaging me, having fun, and we were all giggling and laughing about having to eat the possum on the side of the road number the pile of junk that we just passed on the way to the cabin. It also kept me and my sister busy in those hour and a half to two hour drives to the middle of nowhere.
Yes, I was just a dumb kid, but these are some of the best memories I have.
So as the sun sets on another day, I hope you can take a minute and remember those times of your life that were ohh so awesome but maybe you didn’t think so back then. I hope you remember that you are special every day. Mostly I hope that you find your way, each and every day, no matter what.
