The sun sets on another day…
There was beauty everywhere in oranges and reds as the sky sprayed colors across the horizon. I’m sure there were violets and shades of blue but in the end I was enjoying everything that was going on. It was beautiful.
I was lost in numbers today. I get there sometimes and I’m reminded of my grandfather a long time ago who was sitting in a room surrounded by people and all he did was recite numbers. At the time it seemed odd to me but today I was remembering many things. In 19 days I will have a special day pass and it opened up a wide number of other things. I began counting the number of people that I’ve loved in my life. I counted all the people that are important to me. I counted those they tried to make a difference and those that did make a difference. I thought about how many miles I have driven in my life and began thinking about day by day and year by year since the time I was 15 and learning how to drive. All of these things had me thinking about today and the changes that I make every day in my life that rely on numbers.
It doesn’t seem like it matters much, but my grandfather was a professor of mathematics at a college in Michigan. My life has been filled with math and as I progress I continue to think about all of the numbers I have worked with. From college mathematics in computer science and learning binary and hexadecimal to program in Assembly Language to the massive spreadsheets that I have built and even programs that I have written to calculate numbers from clinical trials too far far more.
Perhaps it is true that life is a series of numbers.
Do numbers mean anything to you? As you think about all of the important events in your life do you wonder how they repeat and all of the different things that you have done that made you the special person that you are. Remember, you are special because the number of you in this world is one.
So as the sun sets on another day, one is a great number and so are all the other exciting times that we enjoy. Have fun with life each and every day and make sure that you live well and can always count on it. You are the best number that you can be, no matter what.
