The sun sets on another day…
I looked out across the horizon to a lake seemingly without end. It is a beautiful moment and only hues of gold splash across the horizon. The clouds fight for supremacy and eventually win. As the darkness closes in around us I am happy to have shared this moment.
A man named Carlos died today. There are people that think he is the greatest person in the world and people who resisted, laughed, or felt that he was overrated. People talk about him daily and people tell jokes at the expense of the world since he was above that.
I know I’m not alone. When I was younger I watched movies with acting that was sometimes measured. Sometimes I wondered but always I was impressed. He did not give up, he continued and created a legacy that will be hard to overcome, hard to forget, and almost impossible for the haters to fathom.
When times were dark he directly gave me hope. He didn’t do this by talking to me but just by setting an example, an example that others should always follow. To millions around the world he said an example of a person who would do the right thing even when the right thing was hard. He was an actor that grew at acting and got better and better over time. He stood for the underdog, he stood for those who couldn’t stand for themselves, and he always stood for good.
With a long running television show he tried to teach as each show had a lesson and it was a lesson that should be heeded. In a movie called Silent Rage he faced an impossible force, and it wasn’t just the writers that succeeded. You could honestly believe he would make a difference and never give up.
In a movie called Lone Wolf McQuade he established himself as a peace officer who would do what was necessary to keep the peace. For many people this is hard as they think words will change the world. Sometimes you have to embrace more than just words to solve the problem. In real life his views were as those in his career, he didn’t push but instead he showed away that should be considered.
The writers were good, but somehow this man sold the role in a way many other could not. He lived it well.
We all think we know, we all want to believe that we know, sometimes we have to accept that we don’t know.
Today is a sad day. A warrior for right has passed on. He did not believe in his rights or someone’s rights, but everyone’s rights. I feel there is a lesson here. I hope you find one too.
So as the sun sets on another day, what have you done today to change the world? How have you affected millions of people in a positive way? How have you tried to change the world by example? I hope your changes are good and make the difference that Carlos did. Make the world a better place every day, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and farewell Mr Norris…
