The sun sets on another day…
I watched a beautiful sunset in the rearview mirror as I drove to an event hours away. The sky was lit up and the lack of clouds made it even more stunning. I enjoy the beauty that was everywhere.
For some reason as I was watching sunset tonight I thought about Batman Returns. In the movie a woman is affected by a situation and becomes a little more brutal in her life. As she progresses she has a neon sign on her wall that says hello there and she transforms that sign with two quick hits creating “hell here.”
Yes, that made me laugh. Mostly because then I began thinking about Letterman. Is it a word is it a plan, it’s Letterman. The quick and brief cartoons allowed Letterman to throw a silent E on the word plan and turn it into a plane. It allowed rapid changes in reality just based on a descriptor. Maybe words can define reality as much as reality is defined by words.
I giggled at that thought as well. After all we can’t turn a plan into a plane unless we’re a very good mechanic. But we can start using words much more effectively to try to make the world a little bit better place. Sometimes the words are necessary.
Going back to Batman Returns, maybe the words that were brought out were always there. Maybe somehow a traumatic experience had exposed the truth. Maybe the world would be better off if we looked for the truth and stopped hiding it behind words.
What do you think? Do you speak the truth even if it’s painful? Do you let the world bear down upon you with words? In the end we have the ability to change the world.
So as the sun sets on another day, I hope that you have an amazing evening and I hope that the words that you use are the truth and that that truth is a good thing. Mostly I hope you find a world that treats you well everyday, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and hello there…
