The sun sets on another day…
I find myself laughing at the sunset today. It played with me and I got to see some cool moments, but then it was gone as if swallowed by a healthy monster. The clouds closed in and the storm followed. It was awesome.
I watched a movie with John Cusack where every few moments he talked about his theories. I know that people do things like that and I know that everyone has a theory I’m just about everything. That’s right, everyone has a theory on something.
For those of you that don’t understand science, I will pause here and giggle for a moment using that now interesting word, a theory is something that you believe to be true and then you have to prove it. Having a theory about something doesn’t make it right, it just makes it a theory. I could have a theory that my car could do hundreds of miles an hour, but it wouldn’t become fact until my car did hundreds of miles an hour. That’s the problem with theories, they’re not true until later.
Here we are at the edge of everything that we need to be and my theory is that everyone wants to succeed and be a good person. Now I know there are some exceptions, they’re almost always are. Painting with a broad stroke of the brush, I will giggle a second time as I think about this, is difficult. There is never a brush broad enough to cover everyone. Still I would like to have a theory that everyone wants to be a good person.
I’m sure the world will prove me wrong and my theory will be disproven. I’m sure that there is someone picking out some political nutcase and saying that they are not a good person. If you’re pointing the fingers you probably aren’t the good person. Still, I think this is a good theory to have. I think with a little work we could say most people want to be good and want to do the right thing. Yes I think that would work. I think there is a pathway to the way where we do not think about how bad people are, but instead celebrate in how good they are. It’s our world and we need to make it a good one.
So as the sun sets on another day, defining good and evil is it entirely new proposition and I won’t deal with it here. I will say that a lot of people know what good is and only a few avoided on purpose. Be one of the good ones. You can do it, no matter what.
