The sun sets on another day…
It was a stunning sunset culminating in a fantastic light show of a bright red that you don’t see very often in the western sky. Sure, pinks and reds are common but the bright crimson that can only be described as a deep red isn’t there everyday. It was beautiful.
When I was in high school they made us do performance tests. These tests were made to determine if we were scoring the proper amount of scores and being the best little students we could be. As we did them there was the immortal number two pencil. The number two pencil screamed out to us all and let us know that this was the instrument of our salvation. We filled in scantrons and got scores that told us what we were going to do or achieve in life.
In the midst of all of this there was a gentleman who was the keeper of the games so to speak. His purpose was to ensure that we all understood the rules of the test and to make sure that we followed those rules. We were given a finite amount of time and told that we would have no more. Those of us that finished first we’re told to sit in our seats until the end of the test and those of us that were rushing to the end struggled until the last minute when this gentleman in the most interesting voice in the world said, “Stop, Put down your pencil.”
I was always amazed as well I was one of those terrible people that finished first and had to wait for everybody else. It was always interesting hearing that final call and knowing that I would finally escape the room of doom providing that I had filled out the forms properly.
Who cares, right?
