The sun sets on another day…
I watched sunset ebb and flow as color swirled across the horizon. It was a spectacular series of moments and as I watched I enjoyed the Fantastic feeling of finality as we closed another day.
You know everyday is a gift, that’s why we call it the present. It’s always good to start with a stupid joke. Anyway the present is a fantastic series of slices and instants that define who we are defined by a measured bit of time.
I probably have no point to this entire line of thinking but I think we should clap our hands every once in a while in appreciation of the life we have. I’ve been sitting here tonight thinking for just a while trying to decide just how happy everyone in the world can be and how happy they should be and how happy they are. If you notice I used “and” three times it was because I didn’t want to minimize any of the three choices. We all have three choices, actually we have quite a few more.
You may think this is a funny series of thoughts. You may not. I noted how happy someone can be because sometimes there are external forces that slow us down. Often these aren’t as big of a deal as some people make them out to be but if we take a step back there are sometimes in some situations that you just can’t overlook and those situations need special consideration. A second thought is how happy should a person be. Opinions vary. I have been told many times I am too happy not only to laugh about it and go on because I don’t think I’m too happy, instead I think people sometimes avoid happiness and in doing so miss out on so many possibilities. Of course the other option is how happy you actually are. There are a lot of people who are very happy who just don’t realize how happy they are and some people, of course, that aren’t very happy but are trying to find their way.
Now obviously you can play this on a scale that is wider than the range of a fiddle with eight strings, but for the most part we have the choice to determine how happy we can be, should be, or want to be. We always have a choice.
Where are you in this grand game I am playing? Are you happy and you know it and you’re clapping your hands? Are you unhappy for no apparent reason like some of the people I meet every day. If you’re unhappy do you have a reason? I suppose you could say to me that I have the right to be unhappy, and of course you do, but personally I think life is too short. Life is way too short. Think about it and I hope that you choose a little bit of happiness, I know i will.
So as the sun sets on another day, I hope you find your way. I hope you can make the world a better place for you and for everyone around you. And I hope the world makes a place that you enjoy and that you find happiness each and every day, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and if you’re happy and you know it clap your hands…
