The sun sets on another day…
Beauty was everywhere as the sun slowly set in the western sky. Clouds drifted like magnificent battleships lit with the fires of the setting sun. After a moment the sky waivered and night closed on leaving a beautiful memory.
It may seem like a strange twist of fate to think that all of our lives we may create battlements. Now I’m not saying that that’s 100% true, but it’s not really false either. As we walk through day by day and face negatives in our life we create pathways in our minds that protect us from negatives in the future.
In my observation it is almost like we build walls where we see things coming at us and sometimes it’s very valid, while other times it is not. It just depends.
Imagine someone does something to you in a particular situation, do you avoid that person or do you avoid that situation or do you do both? Each time we face something we consider the cause and we build a battlement to protect ourselves the next time. It can be a vicious cycle.
What do you do about it? That can be a tough question as there are numerous situations that we need to protect ourselves that we don’t and just as many. We need to consider each situation and decide if we are acting in a proper manner for ourselves both short term and long term.
One example I have used before is the motorcycle rider. A person rides a motorcycle and gets into an accident. Obviously it’s a scary situation and obviously it affects them deeply. Some people end up never riding a motorcycle again, some people get out and ride the next day, it’s all in how they build their battlements.
I’m not sure there’s a good answer to any of this. All I can say is that choose your battlements well as you build them and if possible slow them down a little. You don’t want to stop living life because of things that you faced. You just want to learn from it.
So as the sun sets on another day, may your battlements be carefully planned and your life be safe as much as it can be. I hope you find ways to enjoy every moment that you have and not build walls that keep you from living. You are special, no matter what.
