The sun sets on another day…
The sunset was beyond belief today, with a backdrop of golden clouds, and a rainbow behind, all while I was stuck in a car. At least I got the memory.
There is something very sublime about a waterfall. The flows are never the same as the water jumps from spot to spot. The water is all trying to get to the same place, but the path is not necessarily consistent, only constant.
So as I sat looking at several waterfalls today I was overcome for a moment. I thought a lot about the present, and a lot about the past, and a lot about the future. All of which are not very consistent, but constant. I know, I am one who preaches about living in the present, but there are lessons to be learned from the past that we should not forget, and paths to the future we should not overlook. So even though my statement holds true, don’t whine about the past or pine about the future, instead define yourself in the present. The waterfalls made me consider far more. A push to consider where you’re going, establish where you’ve been, and make this moment one that will keep you moving from there to there.
Funny huh? As I sat in the rain-forest surrounded by life I thought about life. Where I have been, and where I want to be, and how to get there. The paths are significant, and the possibilities even more so, but in the end, the path will be defined by no one other than the person you look in the mirror.
Take a moment, no more, and consider where your origins are, then take another, you know where you want to be, now decide, how do you get there? What are you doing in the now to get there? What can you do each day to get there? It should be an easy question but I know it is not. So if you don’t know right away, take a few moments and decide, talk to a friend, talk to the world, maybe even talk to yourself, but decide how to get there, and make today the best day you can to find your way.
So as the sun sets on another day, take a moment, consider the flow or a river and the power of a waterfall. That power has nothing on you. Even though is is seemingly random, it finds a way to where it must go, You are capable of amazing things every day if you only trust in yourself and make it happen. From whence you came to hence you go, you are the driving factor. Be that drive, no matter what.
