The sun sets on another day…
As I was musing with myself tonight I was struck with a thought. No, it did not hurt, but it was still hammered me with nearly palpable force. The thought “How many ways can you say the same thing?”
Sure, that is just a thought, but the reality is that often you can here the same thing over and over and it may drive you pretty crazy, or at least make you think about the broken record pounding in your mind. Then I thought a little further and realized that maybe hearing the same thing over and over was not so bad. Maybe, just maybe, the idea of hearing things over and over was an actual positive.
Follow me just a second here to a place where people are always civil to each other, where each person reaching out their hand to shake an others, where people talk about a nice day, a happy time, the nice hat someone is wearing, but at least find something each day that is a positive to make the people around them feel a little better about themselves. Imagine saying please and thank you over and over with meaning, and not setting it aside because you already said it. Imagine appreciating the things we have all the time, not just at convenient times.
Hmm, maybe a broken record is not so bad.
So when I say to not to whine about the past, it is because they should learn from it, not let it pull them down. When I say to not pine over the future, it is meant to be aware there is a future, but not let it block the happiness of today. Finally when I say to define today, it is because now is now, and then and then and then is not now. Defining our best day right now is all we really have to ensure our happiness, and it is there we can define who we are, who we were, and who we will be.
Maybe I am a broken record, but I am not writing for any one person but you, and it is there that I hope to see happiness.
So as the sun sets on another day, so as the sun sets on another day, so as the sun sets on another day, well, be happy. If you see something over and over, maybe there is something to it. While you think about it, define your day today, and make it the best one ever.
