The sun sets on another day…
I get a giggle out of a lot. today I got a giggle about seeing the sunset from the house, rushing to the beach to find the fog bank, and then when I was rushing back to see that the sun had set. If I had been somewhere else I would have gotten a great picture, I did not.
Yesterday I spoke of open eyes, but I think we need open minds as well.
I was in a meeting some time ago where one of the meeting leaders began talking about something that was not part of any of the conversation or the truth. As I listened I considered interrupting but knew it would be rude and not well received. Instead I listened patiently, then smiled, nodded and moved on. The person felt good about sharing, and I only hoped that they would look up what they said to verify it. I know I did. This is quite a paradox (Or pair of ducks if you look at the picture) Do you keep an open mind and listen or do you jump in and close your mind and theirs at once. they could have been right, but I needed to verify my facts first.
Things like this happen all the time. We see it online a lot right now. People are so tied up in their opinions that they confuse them for facts. People misuse facts and think they are sure of themselves, and people think they know about people and don’t wait to see a little more. Yes, I have been guilty, but I have always tried to listen, and learn, and never lock myself in a position that makes no sense in the end. Yes, I have done it, but I have tried not to do so.
Anyway, think about what is going on around you, and keep an open mind to it, and see what is happening each and every day.
So as the sun sets on another day, wow, open eyes and open minds, what will they think of next? Be that person that will not just listen, but hear. That person who will see more, sense more, and not close down because they don’t instantly agree. Try to see another side, and maybe just maybe the world will open up before you.
