The sun sets on another day…
I know this is not about a sunset but as I was driving this morning I looked out across the expanse and watched Twilight slowly make its way to the inevitable day. The colors were surreal and it always amazes me how sunrise can be so different from sunset and yet the same.
How many seconds are there in a day? How many minutes? How many hours?
Almost everyone can answer the hours question. After all there are 24 hours in a day. If you ask someone how many minutes or seconds there are in a day they may not answer as quickly. Is it because the minutes or seconds are less important? So how many, I will tell you. 1440 Minutes, 86400 seconds.
Easy to think of that huh? But consider for just a moment. It only takes a few minutes for someone to be born or for someone to die. It only takes a few minutes to enjoy the taste of ice cream or something exciting that makes your palette come alive. It only takes a few minutes the fall in love or have that special kiss that begins the journey. And it takes only seconds to react to so many situations that I could name them for hours and still not touch the list.
My question to you is simple “do think that you are making the most of your day? Are you making the most of your minutes or your seconds? or do they get swept away, not paid attention to the way they should be. Do you look at one or two events in a 24-hour day and as you do forget about the hundreds of minutes?
No I am not saying to obsess about every moment, that would be silly. Instead I am suggesting but you just take a moment or a second or a minute to remember that one event does not define the day. You could have had a bad event. It does not mean the day is bad. Today could have been stressful for a few minutes but we make a choice to carry that stress forward and perhaps we shouldn’t. Today is always an amazing day and filled with possibilities. Are you letting those possibilities come into your life? Think about it, give it a second, or maybe a few minutes, it might surprise you.
So as the sun sets on another day, take a moment, take a minute, take an hour, take all you can and make today the best day ever, no matter what.
