The sun sets on another day…
I enjoyed Sunset as the sky lit up then closed in upon us. It was somewhere beyond beautiful and it made me laugh as I watched the birds dart around readying themselves for the night.
I talk about movies a lot because I enjoy movies. If you enjoy movies there are a great many that I can recommend over almost every genre. Last night I watched a movie and considered writing about it, but waited a day. The movie was called Abigail and it is a dark comedy that made me laugh.
Dark comedies are movies that are usually relatively graphic and contain elements of Horror while staying within the realm of a little bit ridiculous. One of my favorites was the Evil Dead series which can make you laugh and cringe at the same moment.
I walked into Abigail, or in this case sat down on my chair for Abigail, not expecting very much. I knew the movie was about a vampire and I wanted to see it but I have been disappointed by so many recent vampire movies that have painted a picture that was far less brutal than the stories and books that have come before. I was surprised.
Abigail was a fast-paced, high energy, roller coaster movie that also had several underlying stories that made it interesting. I enjoy movies where the characters develop into something a little bit more fantastic and try to jump out of the screen. Now I am sure that there are people that say it could have done more, it could have. Still it achieved its goals by twisting and turning and making the story have you wondering what was going to happen next.
About the only thing I didn’t like was there were no attempted jumps. I like jumps in movies because they make me laugh. I think they missed out here.
If you get a chance and don’t get afraid at vicious little vampires eating people, check out Abigail. I think you might get a kick out of it.
So as the sun sets on another day, last night was a movie night and tonight was just beautiful. I will keep enjoying movies and laughing at the world around me always. I hope you get a laugh or a smile out of whatever you do, and make the world yours, no matter what.
