A lesson in control

The sun sets on another day…

Yesterday as my arm dangled helplessly in front of me I thought about control a lot. It is funny how so many people feel hey are in control. In control of their lives, other peoples lives and a host of items that can make a person’s head spin like a runaway top. It is very rare we really have control of very much but ourselves. Controlling people is about as effective as controlling the sunset, now matter how hard you try, life goes on.

Don’t fret, influence is another thing entirely and if we influence in a positive manner perhaps we will see positive results in the world. We can all move in a positive direction if we just remember to stay look at the bright side of every coin and skip the dark side, or better, eliminate it from our lives. Let go of your illusions and live your life well, enjoy each moment and we will all find people to enjoy the moment with us.

So as the sun sets on another day lets let our illusions of control go, and live our lives the best we can and have hope others come along for the ride.

Sleep sweet, love life, and wish upon a bright star, someone will be wishing on it with you…

(Oh, and I am OK the cat is out of the box)

The sun sets on another day…

Today I am not writing this post, I wrote it Thursday night, and set it to post tomorrow so it would seem like today but it was actually done yesterday. At some point today I was in the deep sleep that only anesthetic brings. Hopefully a deep peace will come over me and I will be happy and fulfilled and my arm will be repaired. Funny huh? Right now I am a literal Schrodinger’s Cat, existing in a vaporous state until I post again tomorrow or have enough presence of mind to do so later tonight. Fun huh?

As the sun sets tonight, and this post is set to be at exactly sunset (No more virtual time travel talk it will give us a headache), let’s be thankful. Thankful for those people who make our lives

Tomorrow the sun will rise…

I missed the part where the sun sets and does not come up, the world is horrible, and people are always just plain bad. Honestly, the  number of people in the world that worry about “stuff” is staggering. Worse, the number of people who try to bring down those of us that are looking for positives and that inner power that they have a hard time feeling is staggering as well (Good word staggering). Those people try to hide the sun, make the world horrible, and try to make people feel bad or just be bad.

There is hope, and it is in every one of us. No, it does not involve you wearing a billboard and telling people your way is the right way, nor does it involve preaching from a pulpit and making people see your point even if you have to hammer it into them, it doesn’t even require wearing a tutu across town. (Would look bad with my legs anyway). Instead it is very straight forward, maybe even easy: Show people you can be happy no matter what, and if you can, try to spread it.

A look into my mind…ooops

For those of you that read my post today without the benefit of my second edit, ooops! I hit the wrong button! Usually I edit several times before I release, in this case I thought I had not released, but I did. Ooops.

It reminds me of a poem, but I won’t recite it to bore you to tears, instead, how about something that is not a sunset? Also you may notice I now have the home page go straight to the sunsets. I appreciate the suggestion.

Courage as the sun sets…

Real courage is when you know you’re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what.   — Harper Lee, 1926–2016

The sun sets on another day….

There are so many choices in life that weigh on us, yes us. Depending on your denomination there are many who feel that decisions are sometimes made for us, or we are guided, but in the end most religions focus on free will, and in that we have the will to make decisions. Sometimes we are faced with an incredibly hard decision, one that will be a pivot point in our life and may make us better, take something away that is precious, find a new path, or rediscover an old path. Sometimes our decisions are not of consequence, but the results can be more difficult to understand.

So let’s walk up a hill together. We are standing atop the hill, either alone or with someone. There are choices before us. Some are easy, some are hard and will be filled with pain. In the end both will yield fruit. How do we choose? I have been on this hill many times. Most of the time I have been alone or “Physically alone” and only some times have I been with others. I feel I have chosen right sometimes, and very poorly others. There are times when I should have stayed the course, and times I should have fought harder, and been more determined, with more passion. (Hard to fathom but true)

When you are asked a question on which choice you will make, the answer that comes is hopefully the one from the heart. Those decisions may be impossible, but it may well be the right thing to do. Now, I am sure there will be a lot of people who read this that can tag on a lot of items that show we are guided and should let things just happen, but I feel we have to understand what “guided” means. When you guide your child on their bike, they are free to go whichever direction they need to go, and that might be the right way, or it may be into the ground. Guidance gives options, but does not dictate.

So as the sun sets on another day, grab your courage and feel the power you have to make your life complete, remember sometimes it is right to face pain, defeat, and failure, so we can feel fulfilled and achieve success (eventually). Remember to drive yourself to the pathway necessary for success and happiness, no matter what…

The fiery hoodoo….

The sun sets on another day…

It is always interesting to consider the amount of fire we are seeing when we watch the sun go down. In reality the sun is about 333,000 times bigger than the earth and as such it is amazing how beautiful it is to us when we are just about a spec of dust in comparison or even less since we are only 558 times larger than an ant.

So we can enjoy the beauty from distance and it does not look like it could accidentally sneeze and wipe us from existence. Funny how that works isn’t it? So by the same token, as we look at the problems in our lives whey are not so daunting as the sun, and if we add a little distance, it may not be all that bad, right? Just think, from a distance problems are not really as big of a deal, and when the sun sets, maybe we should just let them all go.

So as the sun sets on another day remember that problems are not as big as they seem if you step back for a moment and look at them, and if they seem a little too large, step back and let the sun set on another day and slowly the problem may not be as big as you thought it was…

Sleep sweet, wish on a star, and hope someone else is wishing on that same star, forever…

The waves of sunset…

The sun sets on another day…

The waves wash on the shores of life and leave a mark. The mark is sometimes warm and inviting, sometimes cold and harsh as the sands of time are worn by the eternal tides. Our lives, much like the shore, are shaped by the tides of life, and the sun and moon that fight to control it all. As amazing as it seems it is still our choice how to proceed, as we were given this life to be our heaven, or our hell. Take a moment and feel the breeze, the waves, the sun and the eve, and enjoy the sunset, and all it means and ever will mean.

Each day remember, the world is a better place because you are in it, and if you cannot believe in that, believe in the sunset that always falls to the west and the sunrise that rises in the east and enjoy their colors.

Sleep sweet, love life, live the truth, and make each day that special moment no one can take away but you…

Wouldn’t it be nice…

Passion is more than just a word. Passion gives us the ability to think, to react, to enable change, to find our way to work, and to love other people. Without passion science would falter, medicine would be no more and candy stores would be bereft of candy. (Oh no)

Ever think of it that way?

People in life have many different levels of passion. Some people are passionate about every day and want to make the day special, some  people think about the week, the month, the year, but all have a passion for something, even if it is watching reruns of Gilligan’s Island and eating Cheetos. Then you have someone like me, who tries to milk every instant of life out of every instant of life, scary huh?

The senses and the sunset…

The sun sets on another day…

It is funny how I am going to talk about smell while considering a sunset, or is it?

We often consider a sunset to be a spectacle of light, but it isn’t. It is a spectacle of the senses. If you close your eyes in the sunset you can feel the sun shift, and the wind change as the sunlight ebbs and the air cools before you. Your skin will feel the difference. So to will the wind change and the air become a little more crisp, even in the dead heat of summer. If you are in a city, the sounds may change, and you will know the sun is going down, even just by the closing in of a muffled thundering silence that somehow is part of the night.

Our senses are pretty cool if we pay attention. They bathe us in information and if we listen, can walk us towards passion.

As we interact with people so too should we pay attention far beyond sight. It is not the beauty of a person that makes the impression, but also the sound, smell and touch that ignite our passions, and give us the picture of who a person truly is in life. True, actions speak loudly as well, but our first impression is usually based on our senses.

So as the sun sets on another day, and during that glorious shift between day and night, take a moment and close your eyes. and see more than just the colors, but let your other senses have a turn just for a second and when meeting new people, pay attention to them as well.

Sleep sweet, love life, and find your way to happiness, each and every day…

Rhythm of the sunset…

Eeek, the first pass of this post was done in the car while driving in a windstorm and was not as rhythmic as I had hoped. I hope the edit works better….

The Sun sets on another day..

In the movie Fled years ago the statement was made by Laurence Fishburne that everything in life has a rhythm. I believe this is true. For every day as we walk through our lives there is a rhythm to our heartbeat, a rhythm to our walk, a rhythm to our speech, there is even a rhythm to how we interact with different people.

In the world we also see rhythms. There are rhythms in the weather, rhythms in the animals around us and of course rhythms in the Sun rise and Sunsets. It is probably harder to imagine a life without rhythm than to list all of the things that are rhythmic.

In a relationship rhythm is even more important. Our moods and our very lives eb and flow and it is up to us to pay attention to the person we are with in a relationship. As  mood rhythms go up  or fall down we should be diligent and help the ups to be higher, and the lows far less low.

So as the Sun sets on another day watch for the rhythms all around you and pay attention. A watchful eye may not only help our lives to be better but can help the lives of those people around us. In the process perhaps we should listen to a little music and pay attention to that rhythm is well. Maybe listen to a little bass guitar, and enjoy the moments.

Sleep sweet, love life, and live every moment like it was your last, and dance the night away..j
