The sun sets on another day…
I talk often about the positive days in our lives. Those are the days where everything is great because we can easily find fun in our days and we find ways of making it even better by embracing our lives more fully.
But what about the negative nights? What about those nights where you feel cold creeping in, loneliness, disappointment, and the host of other things that slink into our minds as sleep slowly tries to descend on us?
It is rare we truly see the big picture when a negative night descends on us, at least that is my opinion. All too often we see the short term, the obvious, and the falling darkness without seeing the light at the end of the tunnel (which is not a train). We sometimes miss the pure pieces of hope that we are given just by existing.
I have lost very important people in my life, and due to a very weird childhood am desensitized to some things in the moment, only to have them crash down on me later. I have found that the best solution is to brush away the demons of the night in favor of the positives of the day, and enjoy the moment knowing it may never repeat. After all, today is the first day of the rest of your life, and there will be no better day than today, until tomorrow.
So as the sun sets on another day, smile, love the days and the nights and as those negative nights come upon us, take a moment, tell yourself a joke, drink some cocoa, and laugh at a dumb joke. As you do so, find your way to happiness and beyond, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, shine like a star, and love every second of every day…
