Free yourself…

The sun sets another day…

The sun holds tight as it passes through the sky, seemingly fighting for every last instant of the daylight, and not wanting to let go.

I was talking today and in the back of my mind a hundred different conversations were happening. In one of those I considered how we interact with others and I remembered a movie many touted as poor, but I actually liked. The movie was “Star Trek V” and the reason it came to mind was how many of us don’t get the outlet we need to be at peace. Do you get to release your past? Do you get to unload all that baggage you had and have, or do you hold on to it like a vise, and never let it slide away.

As in the movie, the act of letting go is something difficult and can be liberating, but has a side effect, you may well be happier.

Why is it then that so many people dwell on items that they cannot control, or are long since past? I recently had a discussion with one of my daughters, and as we talked, she let me know she worried about a plethora of problematic problems that caused her peril. Peril not as in danger, but as in true poor emotions. This just isn’t good. I simply said, take a breath, close your eyes, and try to let go. Trying to let go is sometimes all we can do, but sometimes it helps to have someone listen and help us.

So as the sun sets on another day, do you feel it? That pressure from days long past? Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let go. There is little in life worth worrying so much about. Close your eyes, take a breath, and let go. Somewhere along the way, try to smile, and laugh a little as things get better!

Sleep sweet, love life, and live it, don’t shiv it!
