The sun sets on another day…
As the sun set, the clouds thickened, snow flew, and tiny snowflakes became a maelstrom of white crystals blocking the light. Somewhere on the edge of the end of the storm, a thin line sat, waiting to show the world the in between of it all.
As I sat cold and worn the wind whipped around me, and for a moment I was not cold any longer, then of course I remembered I left my gloves off so I could take a picture, but anyway, the moment was there. It was a moment where I thought of the thin line between everything, and how sometimes that thin line is where we exist.
I know, sounds less than interesting but isn’t it true that we are working between a thin line between happy and sad, a thin line between fulfilled, and less than such, a thin line between understanding and misunderstood, and yes, even a thin line between love and hate. That thin line is where so many people are, and so many people are stuck, holding on to both, but not willing to let go of either.
I feel, I think, and I say to you, step past the negative, even if it is hard and overcome, not because I say so, but because it will make your life better. Walk past the thin line and embrace happiness, hold on to the things that fulfill you, embrace understanding, and love like tomorrow will never be here at all.
It sounds so easy, but it is not. It takes work, and power, and pain, and passion but it is worth it. Reach out, take a moment, and pay attention to yourself. Those things that bind you are doing just that, binding you. If there was no tomorrow and this was your 28,999 sunset, what would you do with that last moment? Be happy, or sad for the day? Choose right, be happy, and find your way to a better place.
So as the sun sets on another day, I can tell you all days are not perfect, some of them are downright taxing. Some hurt, and some are worse than that. We (that means all of us) have a choice to move above it, don’t whine about the past or pine about the future instead define your now and make it the best now it can be, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love, and make it to the moon and back…
