The sun sets on another day…
The sunset truly showed the pathway to spring. Cars lined the beach, and younger people were out, laughing and playing in the slowly setting sunlight even though it was a balmy 34 degrees outside. The ice is still there, but soon it will be no more, then boats will speckle the horizon and spring will be in full bloom.
I am around a lot of smart people. Yes, I could say masterful, or intelligent, or a dozen other words but smart fits, because there is such a range.
Today in a discussion while waiting for Windows Services to install (Which is like watching grass grow) we started talking about the smartest person in the room. It was interesting seeing how the gentlemen I was with saw the world as they explained the quiet ones were sometimes the ones to watch out for, and how it was really random. One told the story of the man in dingy clothes sipping coffee in the class as everyone waited, and then walking to the front and explaining he was the teacher and not to judge a book only by its cover. He said the class took copious notes that year, and he was truly inspired.
I am reminded of an old movie and in it the hero is beaten and barely alive. An old Inuit says he is a bear, the man replies he is a mouse to which the chief says simply, that is exactly what a bear would say. It may seem like a silly line, but it is often true. I know everyone wants to be heard, to be that person who is the strongest, fastest, meanest or smartest, but often if you know, you don’t need to say it. If you know, it is just what s there.
So as the sun sets on another day, if you are the best, be the best, but you will know it when you don’t have to tell anyone at all. Be your best, do you best, and make the best out of everything, and be the mouse that roars, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and enjoy the sunsets…
