Just one more…

The sun sets on another day…

The sunset was intense, amazing and subtle in a dozen different ways. I sat looking at it, considering everything the sunset means to me, and all the things it could mean to anyone. As I watched the sun go down I realized I had made it through one more sunset.

I have a tendency to get caught up in moments. There are good moments, bad moments and indifferent moments that assail us every moment in the day. (Yes, that absolutely makes sense) Friday night for example the sunset was covered in clouds but the resulting light show from a storm was no less than spectacular from my room on the 6th story. I watched through huge windows as steaks of light assaulted the evening sky. It was an amazing series of moment in the midst of a lot of less than amazing moments.

Saturday night I watched from that same window as the sun set on the evening sky with hope and a bit of positivity as the sunset glimmered in the western sky off a series of glass and steel towers. The cascading effect was striking, my time elated some from the night before by the positive events of the day. In the end, I watched as the blue turned pink, and the pink grey, then black, and realized I had just received a gift of one more sunset.

Tonight, as you can see in the picture, I was given another gift. We all were given this gift, a spectacular sunset on lake Michigan. It was stunning. It was watched by dozens of people at the spot I went to, and the “ohhs and awws” were audible all over. There is no way to describe how great I feel for seeing this sunset. No way to express how wonderful it is to see just one more.

So as the sun sets on another day I wish anyone reading could see through my eyes today. At the gifts we have been given: The meaning of a simple moment; the power of the sunset; the subtle positives of so many things; and just how special you are every day. Not me, you. You are the most special person in the world right now at this moment, and you deserve to be happy each and every day. Find your special moments, find those great days, and be happy for just one more sunset, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love often, and live with the passion that others envy…
