The sun sets on another day…
I am driving. Not a little, but instead a long way. The hours pass and as they do I am astounded by the diversity of the world, and the subtle changes as I go from state to state. Well, some of them are subtle. The road conditions are less than subtle sometimes, and sometimes the look and feel of an area is different as I pass each small burg and town. Still, the people are similar.
While I was driving I used my “handsfree” option and called several people. As I talked to one woman I found she was an author, and we shared a few minutes of her challenges and tribulations, and I gave her some options that may help her in the future. In the process, she helped me with my issue, and we exchanged email addresses so she may be a part of an upcoming festival. It was a good time.
My point is, or the lack of a point I have made is it took no extra time for us to talk, well maybe a little, but in the process we may have helped each other out, and maybe, just maybe, we will keep in touch and help each other in the future. It cost me nothing.
Wouldn’t the world be just a little better if we all took that extra moment to say “Hi”. Wouldn’t we be a little better knowing we have something in common with another person instead of seeing them as a number, or passing them by without a kind word? Wouldn’t a few moments be worth the potential of a new friendship? Wouldn’t the time we took to make someone feel better just be worth it?
These may be tough questions but they should be easy. All I am suggesting is that every person you meet is an opportunity to learn something new about the world, and every interaction a chance to build more, laugh more, and maybe just have fun.
