The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was wonderful as we drove past the flags and fair in this small town. Decisions upon decisions make you wonder how the moments will go as each decision is a step in a slightly different direction.
I was reading, or I should say rereading The Earthsea Trilogy last night. I found recently that there were more books written and I enjoyed those as well. The writing of Ursula K. Le Guin was intense and eye opening. I came across a passage for a moment about light and darkness. There are two things I will throw out here and see if they stick.
“To light a candle is to cast a shadow…”
and
“People who deny the existence of dragons are often eaten by dragons. From within.”
The reason I note these two is we need to realize each day they we can be a light and open our minds to possibilities. We may cast a shadow but the light is still good and overpowers darkness everywhere. The second quote I have always loved because it notes that not believing in something does not make it not real. (It is not from Earthsea but it is good).
We can all choose to light our paths and open our minds, or we can choose to simply say “I don’t think I like that” and not believe in anything but our own opinions. I would like to believe the light is there for us. I would like to believe we can be part of shining a light. That doesn’t mean we have to be an 80 billion candle power flashlight that sears flesh on contact, but any light can make a difference. Any light is good.
So as the sun sets on another day, let your light shine, show your truth, but believe in more than just you and open your mind to a new world where dragons abound, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, live with power, and shine your light…
