The sun sets on another day…
I was surprised at how beautiful the sunset was. I looked out over the world and as I did so I found myself pleasantly pleased at the colors shimmering in the western sky. Sunset is at the essence of beauty, sunset can open minds if you just watch. I’d like to think that people I care about all over the world we’re watching with me, maybe not at the same time but at a similar sunset.
I’m finishing up the book 14 stairs. I really struggled with whether I should finish this or write this simply because it is a way to Bear your soul when you write a book about your experience that is nonfiction. The book verifies and documents my journey of getting a new valve and repairing an aneurysm. It was something that I wasn’t planning on doing but it was also something that I had to do and the 5-year mission was not one that Gene Roddenberry would have written.
The book starts with a stress test that identified a murmur that identified an aneurysm that identified a conflict between a series of surgeons and cardiologists that probably shouldn’t exist. I outline not only what happens before but also going up against a sudden unexpected hurdle, the 14 stairs from my basement to the first floor. It’s something I never would have thought about before, but between sleep deprivation and the recent surgery I struggled with something that I could have run up dozens of times with no effort just weeks earlier.
Along the way the reader will experience insights into my life and some of them are very personal. In the end I hope that readers will not only appreciate the story, but the items I have injected as well as a cautionary Tale about doctors, follow-ups, and trying to understand the immortal question, who is right?
Of course there are some interesting things from the giant snake to 8 days without sleep. The entire experience created a new measure of time that I tried desperately to explain along with an approach that has put me back on track to be better and better.
I hope that you can join me in this quest and maybe get a glimpse inside of my very strange mind. It’s going to be a wild ride no matter how you slice it.
So as the sun sets on another day, thanks for reading, and thanks for reading my books if you haven’t. If you want to see what’s out there, go to andrewallensmith.com. I hope that you know that I listen to my readers and look forward to hearing from them in the future. This will be an incredible experience and thanks for sharing it with me. I believe in you all, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and keep living…
