Why miss another?

One man’s trash…

The sun sets on another day…

High in the sky there was smoke. Fine smoke. A series of wisps from Canada and Minnesota sliding across the skyline made the world seem hazy. Still, the sunset was spectacular.

There are some sayings that haunt you whether you want them to or not. The idea of one man’s trash being another man’s treasure it’s an old proverb or statement that doesn’t relate have a source that can be easily traced. As we consider the source it could be anyone from someone’s great grandfather to a caveman who drew a picture on the wall only to be discredited and adored at the same time for the distinct way he used the charcoal to create the saber tooth tiger’s teeth. I doubt we’ll ever know who said something like that first but it’s usually used as a relatively snarky comment when someone is picking on your new pile of trash.

I think we need to sit for a second and think about it and realize that the things that are important to us focus around what is important to us, and not to anyone else. Tonight I was talking to my son about things. He noted how so much was not important to him and everything was more about experiences. I immediately suggested that at some point reminders of the experiences including trophies, pictures, and more, could be a trigger for fantastic memories and opportunities. He thought about that for a few minutes and then agreed but because he has not had as many experiences it did not align as well. Over time, who knows.

Here we are unable to define either trash or treasure because everything about it is subjective and not objective at all. Of course we could say that a treasure is something quantitative by money but is mutton really as important as we let on when it comes to what we treasure? Can we truly define ourselves by that treasure and the money that it is worth?

I sit here thinking, looking at trinkets that I have collected over a long period of time and pondering the treasures they hold. I sit here looking at the true treasure, a pathway to positivity and everything else around it.

What do you treasure most in life? Think about it for just a moment, what price is there for your treasure? Does it matter at all?

So as the sun sets on another day, I think I’ll treasure the things that are important and I think I’ll find the positivity from my treasures each and every day. Discover your treasures and keep them safe then hold them tight and enjoy everything you can, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and treasure your love…
