Why miss another?

Carpe imaginasium…

The sun sets on another day…

The sunset once again was fantastic and once again an evening series of clouds sprayed the horizons with lightning-fueled color. I found myself lost in the dancing oranges and magnificent yellows.

What do you hold on to? So many people hold on to strange things that won’t necessarily mean anything in a few short years. Many people get lost in the idea of having more and being more. I’m guilty as well. My walls of movies and books and strange other things are incredibly materialistic in some ways but I don’t hold on to them for the material, instead I hold on to them for the emotional and the imagination that I have invested in each.

We should seize our imagination. We should find the pink elephants in the evening clouds. We should watch the Ripple in the water and find the fascination that we honestly know is there. We should pick up a handful of sand and see a thousand worlds lost inside of the sparkling galaxies the Shimmer in the afternoon sun. We should see past it all.

Sounds pretty crazy, right? Why would anyone get lost in imagination when there’s so much reality out here, right? Why read fiction when there are so many nonfiction titles to learn from and to know from? All of these are good questions but I have a better one.

The cell phones that people are scrolling constantly, lost in a doom scroll that has no end, break it down. The idea of the internet was put together by the imagination of groups of people trying to protect the country. The circuits inside were once giant tubes and shrunk over and over until they could be the size that a cell phone could have the power of a roomful of electronic tubes. The design of your cell phone is based loosely on television shows that looked forward to science fiction and made it into science fact. Imagination drove it all. The vision of people and their vision for what people would like came from their imagination and trying to touch other people’s minds. The buttons on the screen came from imagination and necessity and the simple keyboard that everybody thinks makes sense was actually built to slow you down back when typewriters were a thing. Again imagination at work. Even the electricity that runs the phone the battery inside of it the plastic that contains it the glass on the front the crystal that’s into the side the light emitting diodes that light it up all of these things came from the imagination. What happens when the imagination is gone?

I’m not going to let it go. I don’t want you to either. Hold on to your imagination with both hands. Sit down your phone and write something, draw something, invent something, make a difference in your own mind and in doing so make a difference in the world. You very well may be the key to the next solution that will change at all. Seize your imagination and as you do so find the way.

So as the sun sets on another day, I hope your imagination is running wild. I hope you realize how special you are. Mostly I hope that you can see past the simple things that seem to get people lost right now and instead find the solutions everywhere that will make you more, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and sees your imagination…
