Why miss another?

The sun sets on another day…

The sky was full of dark clouds, and even though there was a sunset, all of the colors could not easily be seen in the western sky. Still, there was beauty everywhere. As speckles of bright red peppered the clouds to the west, I smiled, knowing that the sunset was so beautiful.

Today, I was at the Southern Festival of Writers. It was a different kind of event because authors were pretty much segregated, and most of the authors did not have any type of table or area that they were attempting to sell books from. Instead, authors were part of panels, or they were part of presentations or readings. And because of that, those authors were only there, or seemed to only be there, for a short time.

There was a good sized turnout, and a great many people walked around through the various booths, including mine. The booth was beautiful, and I looked pretty darn good too. My daughter joined me this time, and in joining me, she introduced her new children’s book to the world. It was good.

Even though it was a very good event in some ways, the traffic was relegated to the author areas, which were actually tents where presentations were being done, and it wasn’t so focused on the actual booths. And those areas had a tendency to sell more goods than they did books. Of course, there was the exception, and Ingar Rudholm will be very agreeable knowing that about six to eight booths down from me, they were selling books for five dollars a book and just burning them out of there, where the rest of us were trying to make money.

During the day, I met many great people. As I met those people, I enjoyed interacting with them. Two young ladies came up, and we talked about fear and fun. I gave out well over 200 bookmarks to other people who had interest in a significant number of different items. I also worked on building my mailing list, and there is a drawing that will happen tomorrow that includes a lot of stuff. That drawing is for a basket. I was very impressed with my own basket, Thank you.

Here I was, interacting with people, and I found that lots of people were just plain fun. There was someone driving a cart, and she giggled and laughed every time because the cart was bigger than what she was used to, and as she did, did, we had good giggles, and I made fun of her when she couldn’t turn around as quick as she thought she would.

All in all, it was an amazing day. I started the day with a full set of The Masterson File and three of the new Slices of Fear. I was impressed. The day went on, and I continued to sell. Oh well, it was fun.

So, as the sun sets on another day, I hope you had a fantastic day. And I will be back tomorrow in downtown Nashville for six hours, selling more books and enjoying more people all along the way. I will be talking and laughing and making the world an exciting place for some people.

Be exciting and interact with everyone you can, no matter what…
