The sun sets on another day…
So many people see pain as the worst thing in their life. Pain can hurt, unless you are Patrick Swayze in “Roadhouse” getting stapled. Pain is to be avoided, to be feared, and it builds us each and every day, and makes us avoid the little and the big things in life.
So do we have to? Is pain in any form enough to drive us away always? The firefighter knows the pain of the fire, but he rushes forward. The Policeman knows there is a possibility of pain always, but he overcomes. We all know that there are so many things that can hurt, but sometimes we have to go back, sometimes we have to feel and experience before we can shy away, and even then it is not necessarily bad enough to make us avoid the world, instead we embrace it and go past the pain.
Now, honestly this whole idea is superficial, because if you are having your teeth drilled, well, it is not something you want to rush into, but if you have ever loved and lost, it hurt, and it hurt a lot. We should not run away from that, we take another chance, or chance becoming a hermit. A friend can be an amazing thing, but it sometimes hurts, but we keep going because the positives outweigh the negatives. So it goes, and sometimes, we chance the pain. After all, sometimes it has to hurt for us to understand how great the feeling is not to be hurt. Sometimes it just does. I thought about this as the metal pierced my skin tonight and tore flesh like butter. Was an interesting feeling.
So, anyway, as the sun sets on another day, don’t keep touching the hot stove, it hurts. If however, you find there is something great in your life, take a chance, and even though you might get hurt, it may be worth it,
