The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was sublime (and I want to say ridiculous to quote an old movie, but I won’t). Sitting on a deck watching the sun set over an inlet was nice, watching the boats go in and out over the water made it even more so.
I thought a lot tonight about the costs we pay each day. Some are small, some are large and I am not explaining myself completely. I am not talking about monetary costs, I am talking about the costs to our mind, our hearts, our souls, and all the things in between. There is a cost to things, sometimes it repays, sometimes it does not, but still the cost is taken. There is a cost to laugh, to love, to interact, to hide, to build, to destroy, and all the things you do each day. That cost weighs on you not as a pain, but as a reminder that we progress daily into the person we will finally be when our 29000 sunsets come to an end, It is an implied cost, not large or small.
As you consider the strangeness I am presenting consider the costs you deal with often. How does each action affect you and how does it repay and you will see it is there, a cost for doing something, but a payment back in happiness (I hope).
It is a complex series of thoughts and I really need to write about this, but as I sat with a group this evening (Socially distanced but enjoying discussions with authors and other people) I can only say that sometimes the cost pays back by showing us some happiness, and giving us new knowledge to consider.
So as the sun sets on another day, well, the cost of missing people is a lack of growth. Find ways with people or even a person, interact, enjoy, learn, and become more each day that you can. Along the way let the world teach you and you will be repaid in wonderful dividends, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love deeply, and enjoy the cool eve…
